Day 17 - Tuesday, 8th May, 2014 - 26.5 km
[Leaving to Albergue to get a good start- Boadilla]
The route from Boadilla the next morning, which followed a canal into the town of Fromista was very beautiful and we had arisen earlier than our custom and proud to have our first coffee break before we would normally been up!
The Camino took two routes and we could either have carried on straight up the main road, probably the course of the original Camino, or taken the alternate route which ran beside a river which was alive with wildlife and particularly frogs who were trying to attract mates by the noise they were making.

We eventually cut back across to the roadway to stop off at Villacazar de Sirga. There is a wonderful sculpture there of a pilgrim stopped off having a meal at a brass table, which made a wonderful place for people to pose for pictures. I was there the year before and had just met a Parisian lady - Frederique, but it seemed too early in our relationship (and a bit forward) to ask her to pose for pictures by the Camino Pilgrim, so this time we rather milked the occasion!
We eventually made Carrion de los Condes and headed for the Convent Albergue there. We were welcomed by two delightful nuns, who booked us in and showed us to a very airy dormitory. It was quite a surprise as they also did the rounds at bedtime wishing us well and saying goodnight. It was if the were running a strange type of boarding school where the pupils only stayed one day and were never seen again, so they seemed to make the most of our contact.
Buen Camino.
